L'occasion de rentrer en studio pour une semaine, offerte sans contrainte ni impératif d'aucune sorte a provoqué quelque chose d'inédit, qui n'aurait sans doute jamais vu le jour sans cette contingence. Les musiciens ont pu s'abandonner au temps qui leur était offert.
Un temps que David El Malek a employé à faire ressurgir des mélodies qu'il porte depuis toujours et qu'il a eu envie d'habiller d'un jour nouveau avec cette formule du trio bugle, saxophone, piano. Et dans ce travelling intérieur, il s'affranchit définitivement de son rôle d'improvisateur de jazz pour endosser le rôle du chant, de l'interprète classique qui cherche la justesse d'expression, qui cherche l'évocation ultime, envoûté par le son, l'espace et le silence. Après dix ans d’absence, David El Malek nous revient avec un disque étranger à toute idée de performance. C'est l'album de la maturité.
